OK, I'm gonna let you in on a bit of the creative process behind these daily jaxstuff.com updates.


When I saw this page attached to my income tax return a couple of years ago, I thought it would be fun to comment on how happy George Clooney seems to be working on his taxes.


See, that's the kind of comedy that wins awards at festivals! And you would have seen it right here on jaxstuff.


But then before I went ahead and posted this ad, I realized there was something deeper at work here. Something was really pissing me off – the whole "YEAH! I just did my FUCKING taxes" thing was really getting on my nerves.


Because no one. NO ONE. N.O...O.N.E. on the freaking planet is this excited about doing taxes. Ever. At all. And that's when it hit me.


This is a government client telling their milquetoast ad agency to buckle under and create an ad that makes tax filing 'fun'.


But instead of the ad agency having the balls to stand up and say "No," they said, "I see what you mean."


Then off they skulked back to their slimy little offices and created this steaming pile and attached it to millions of tax returns.



And lo, here it rests now, and rightfully so, in the badvertising hall of shame.
